If you are looking for shawc3blog, you’ve found it!  I had to change the look of the page due to some problems with Internet Explorer.  I think this page will work for everyone.  Hope you are reading and looking over the notes on the wiki - http://seniorsspeak.wikispaces.com.  I will be posting other things to “think” about and ”discuss” later today. Remember to finish Frankenstein.  By the way the new theme for this blog is titled “benevolent.”  Look at the design, then think about the word.  What does “benevolent” mean?  Where have we seen it in Frankenstein?

Benevolent is an adjective meaning goodwill, charitable or simply nice. In Frankenstein, the creature is upset that his benevolent deed of rescuing the drowning child is not only unappreciated but the father shoots him. This is part of the reason the creature has such vengeance on mankind. His benevolent act results in him being reprimanded, so he decides he is done being nice and begins his quest of revenge.

Benevolent means being charitable. It also means being characterized by or expressing goodwill or kindly feelings. I think Victor is a hard-working man who shows a lot of feelings about what he does. When he was making the creature it really showed how intense it was to finish this creature.

The meaning of Benevolent is showing kindness or goodwill, performing good charitable acts not seeking to make a profit. When Victor initially started to create the monster he might have been creating it to promote human health and life. Once the creature awoken, however, Victor realized the mistake he had made. His act of creating the monster ended up being a disaster to society instead of a charitable act.

I think the creatue is a benevolent creature; he just doesn’t get a fair chance to show it because nobody accepts him. If given a fair chance I feel the creatue would have a very postitive impact on society.

Benevolent is characterized by expressing good will or kindly feelings. I agree mostly with what Wesley has said but you also have to think that Victor could have been looking for a profit. Profit is defined as gaining an advantage or benefit. It doesn’t seem like Victor is too beneficial during this novel. Basically all the people he cares about die.
